We take advantage of the resources that nature offers us while respecting it to the fullest!
We supply ourselves with the clear and drinkable water (not chlorinated) that springs from the many natural sources of the mountain.
We have a solar energy photovoltaic installation for self-consumption, reducing carbon emissions, as well as achieving considerable energy savings.
In our village lives a herd of Cachenas cattle, a native breed that is in danger of extinction, which help us keep the mountain clean by feeding on grass, shrubs, gorse or brambles while they live peacefully raising their calves. It is impressive to see their large horns and hear their bells when they are close, being very peaceful animals, to the point that they eat bread from the hand (always respecting them and with caution).
ANCIENT PATHS that connected O BUSTO with other villages such as Parada dos Montes and Couso allow us to discover wonders of nature such as iron-rich water sources or blond fountains, highly appreciated by water lovers for their healing properties, impressive rocky viewpoints, and beautiful streams, waterfalls and pools to cool off on hot days. And others created by man like the beehive walls, to protect the hives from bears or the iron mines that were exploited in the past.
There are different ROUTES to explore and POINTS OF INTEREST nearby. On foot, by bicycle, motorcycle, quad or 4x4 you can reach…
- The old forest hut for fire watch, next to the geodetic vertex, which indicates an exact geographical position and forms a triangulation network with other vertices.
- The Pena and Mesa dos Catro Cabaleiros, where according to legend the knights of the four adjoining municipalities met. There are tracks to reach Folgoso do Courel, passing through Parada dos Montes and several villages of Courel; Samos, through A Ferrería and O Hospital; and O Incio, through A Casela.
- The village A Veneira de Roques where iron mines were also exploited, now closed, and where the small chapel in honor of Saint Mary Magdalene is located.
- To the recreational area of SAN VITOIRE, a complex formed by the chapel, the Lebrón stream, the fountain and the viewpoint, this saint being the Patron of our village, celebrating in his honor a beautiful and popular pilgrimage on August 27.
In the village we also celebrate OUR OWN FESTIVAL, usually the third Saturday of August, with a free pancetta party and enlivened by Galician soloists, duos or groups while we contemplate a fantastic sunset. In addition to hosting different events organized by the town council itself.
